Responsible innovation is now essential for building sustainable and inclusive development. In this context, universities play an essential role as vectors of knowledge, training, and scientific research. At the University of Fianarantsoa, despite certain initiatives, several obstacles limit the impact of innovation: high graduate unemployment, lack of funding, inadequate infrastructure, and weak interaction with businesses and civil society. This paper provides an overview of current initiatives and obstacles encountered, based on a survey of faculty members, students, and local business leaders. The study aims to take stock of the situation, identify obstacles, and propose recommendations to strengthen the integration of responsible innovation in research, training, and partnerships. Beyond this case, it questions the ability of Malagasy universities to become catalysts for change despite the constraints.
