Assessing the Concrete Contribution of Cameroon University to Responsible Innovation Ecosystems
Cameroonian universities would occupy a strategic position in promoting responsible innovation ecosystems. Through training, scientific research, and technology transfer, it would contribute to sustainable development and the resolution of local issues. Initiatives such as university incubators, applied research projects, and partnerships with businesses would demonstrate a commitment to socially useful and environmentally sustainable innovation. However, the concrete contribution remains not only limited by several constraints (insufficient research funding, low valorization of research results, a mismatch between training and market needs, and still fragile collaboration with the private sector), but is also not clearly identified. To strengthen its impact, Cameroonian universities should rethink their mechanisms for integration into the national innovation ecosystem by focusing on interdisciplinary collaboration, inclusive governance, and the co-construction of solutions with local actors.
