University Spillover Effects and Local Entrepreneurship Dynamics: Prospects in Terms of Responsible Innovation

The aim of this work is to study the role of French universities in firm creation within the different territories. We characterize each university by the relative weight of its students in four major disciplines (engineering sciences, health, economics and social sciences, human sciences and letters) and observe the effects induced on the creation of two types of companies, those whose production activity is highly knowledge-intensive and those, often specialized in services, whose activity can be considered as less-knowledge intensive.
