In response to sustainable development challenges, African universities must move beyond knowledge transmission and act as key drivers of territorial innovation. This communication explores the transition toward an “integral and entrepreneurial university”, using Cadi Ayyad University (Morocco) as a case study. A qualitative analysis of institutional initiatives (incubators, partnerships, student-led projects) is combined with theoretical insights on entrepreneurial universities and sustainable development. The objective is to identify the levers of institutional transformation and strategies that foster universities’ social and territorial engagement in constrained environments. This exploratory study highlights concrete actions undertaken by UCA and offers recommendations to strengthen African universities’ role as active agents of change.
