This talk will explore some of the main current challenges and critical dilemmas in healthcare innovation (e.g. rapidity vs. efficacy in new drugs development, the tension between market size and the right of care for everyone, and so on…). Ineffective forecasting and management of these challenges and dilemmas risk destroying value, and limit the innovative power and dynamics within the industry. As a consequence, the lack of management of such issues is likely to negatively impact national healthcare systems, firms, and patients. The talk will offer to the audience a set of guidelines for supporting the decision-making about these critical aspects for healthcare institutions, firms, and other stakeholders. This set of guidelines, therefore, is an important tool also to promove innovation and value-creation in healthcare systems.
