Rethinking the Entrepreneur: From the Spirit of Enterprise to the Spirit of Craftsmanship

By Michel Marchesnay
English

The identity of the entrepreneur remains unresolved, both in deductive (theoretical) and inductive (practical) terms. The French entrepreneur promotes, both in theory and practice, leadership (authority), over entrepreneurship (risk taking), the administrator over the innovator. New capitalism returns an essential role to the entrepreneur, that of an individual mastering a “craft” conforming to the new modernity, to the search for singularity and a practical approach.
