The Business of Capital: From Market Enterprises to Financial Regulation

Since the beginning of the 2000s, the financial assets markets have been radically overturned. The aim of this paper is to recall the main causes and consequences, divided into five topics: the role of information and communication technology (ICT) in the explanation of these transformations; the strategies of the actors and notably of the stock exchange markets; the formation of financial oligopolies; the difficult emergence of sustainable industrial organizations and of new regulations; and the author’s proposition of creating regulated natural oligopolies.
