The article analyzes the links between an economic context and the adjusting or creative innovation variable. These variables stress the critical importance as well as the challenges and hopes involved in the concept of "perennial innovation," often called the "breakaway innovation," with a view to meeting the expectations of the 21st century. Because innovation is very difficult to generate and taps the deep functionalities of the brain, its development calls for a "science of innovation."
