Software: Intellectual Property and Competitive Strategies

Intangible goods are increasingly protected by intellectual property. Therefore, software should follow this trend. Nevertheless, a close study on the nature of software and the different computer industry models shows that strategies based upon software intellectual property are technically implementable only in personal computing.
