The Substitution of Market Laws to Aesthetic Criteria in Speculative Contemporary Art
By Alban Goguel d’Allondans
English
The deregulation of the existence and recognition modes of contemporary art works is influenced by neoliberal models of the financial economy, which directly impact artistic creation. The art work economy cannot be identified to criteria coming from outside, which result in the confusion observed in definitions, norms and borrowed values. The role of actors is thus profoundly modified. The market of speculative art, by segmenting itself, demonstrates these drifts. JEL codes: Z11, D43
