“Social” Currency: Proudhon's (1809-1865) Theoretical Contribution and the Barter Network Experience in Argentina"

The experience of the global barter network in Argentina based on a social currency is at the forefront of the economic debate. Yet these new forms of exchange in the solidarity economy are part of a long historic filiation of financial experiments, including the theory of exchanges and credit of P.-J. Proudhon, who, by using a social currency (credit) as the chosen instrument of social change, seems to have found an application in the realities of Argentina today.
