By Nacer Gasmi, Gilles Grolleau
English
This paper first defines the concept of environmental innovation. Two distinctive features of environmental innovations, their nature as public goods and the intangibility of environmental benefits, are analyzed in the context of agro-business systems. It is shown that these unique features constrain the generic logic used to foster environmental innovation. It concludes that a specific theoretical framework is required.
